Preparing For The End

It’s the end of a lot of things, this page right here.  It’s the end of Chapter 13, which is the single longest part of DGN yet.  It also marks the next-to-last page of DGN I will be doing the artwork for, as Jim will be taking over art duty from the beginning of Chapter 14.

A lot of things have happened during the run of Chapter 13, both in-comic and outside of it.  It’s bittersweet to see it end.

blog...

Your generosity is not forgotten!

DGNites and Norikoholics,

I said earlier that I was working on cooking up some new stuff for you folks, especially for the generous readers that helped me out in a really rough patch, and I meant it!  As soon as I have a functional computer again, we’re going to give you a real treat!  For those who donate at least $5 to DGN, we’re going to have a special Donors section featuring some very tastefully sexy artwork featuring your favorite characters.   Donors of $50 or more can also choose whom they would like to see in the HAWT pics.  Also, those who have already donated (I have very good records) will be given access to the appropriate galleries as soon as they are online, so if you’ve already made a donation, it’s not forgotten.  In NO way am I going to cheat anyone who’s been so generous and gracious!

In addition, I’m working on putting together the DGNiverse Wiki, which should be ready to go within a month or so.  This will be free to all readers, and might even contain a spoiler or two.  ;)

Again, thank you so much for all you’ve done for me and for DGN, and I truly hope that Chapter 14 just completely blows your collective minds!

I give up. Sorta.

The power supply (yes, the new one) has fried out too.  It’s this accursed house I am currently forced to live in; I’ve had this computer since 2004 and I have NEVER had a problem until I moved in here.  Now, in the span of a couple months, I have fried out TWO power supplies.  SO….until I get out of this abomination to technology, I cannot nor will not repair or replace this computer.

That being said, there’s a couple tough calls I have to make.  The first one is that until I can get into a different place and be able to replace the power supply (AGAIN), Obsidian is going to have to be put on hiatus.  I just simply don’t have to resources to continue producing it.  I hate the very concept of it, but there’s just no choice.

Secondly, DGN *IS* going to continue.  With the exception of a couple pages that aren’t even going to be seen until late June, everything I was going to do the art for is done and queued.  Jim will obviously be taking over artistic duties starting with the beginning of Chapter 14, so it won’t be an issue; I’ll be able to do layout and writing through other avenues.

I’m sorry to have put you all on this ridiculous rollercoaster ride.  Someday I swear I will make it up to you folks, as soon as I can get out of this horrible place and repair my machine.

4 Years Old

DGN turns 4 years old today!  Now, I know the DGN B-day is usually accompanied by a Satsuki Show, but this year I really just want to get the story into high gear.  There MAY be a Satsuki Show later in the year, and if that materializes I’ll keep you posted.

But Gods….4 years and 500-something comics….if I didn’t love it I wouldn’t do it.  Thank you for making this the awesome experience it’s been.  I am really blessed.

The Good News

Hey DGNites and Norikoholics!

I have some good news to pass along to you.  Thanks to the generous donations (and four hours of work doing something I wasn’t 100% sure I knew how to do), it looks like Precious v. 1.9.2 is functional.  There’s definitely a heartbeat, and tomorrow I’m going to do a full system test to make sure there’s proper brain function.  Thus far everything looks good and I will definitely keep you posted on the goings-on regarding that.  If everything checks out tomorrow and Sunday then I hope to have a new DGN page up Wednesday, and new Obsidian the following Monday.

Thanks again for the donations thus far, and hopefully some more will come our way so I can make some seriously-needed upgrades to the system, and be able to put out a better quality comic than I have to date.  Most of all, thank you for helping me keep the DGNiverse alive!

Something to whet your appetite for new DGN….

As I said before, James Roden (of Requiem) will be joining Team DGN as the new artist. Well, Jim likes to get inside of the project and so he’s been working on some conceptual art for the comic, and I have for you here the first fruits of that labor.

And now, the big announcement!

Ladies and gentlemen,

I have just concluded a 4-hour meeting and now I have something to tell you.

DRAGON GIRL NORIKO IS GOING TO CONTINUE, STARTING DAMN NEAR IMMEDIATELY.

The reason I stopped was simply because I was trying to keep too many fires burning all at once and couldn’t keep up.  That, friends, has changed.  I would like to take this moment to welcome aboard the newest member of Team DGN, my close friend James Roden (of Requiem). Jim is probably the single best CGI artist I am currently aware of, and he has agreed to take over artistic duties with DGN. I, of course, will still be writing the story, but Jim brings with him artistic and technological expertise that will take DGN to a whole new level, and I personally am VERY excited about what we can accomplish. Rest assured, dear readers, that this does in no way mean DGN is going to be done completely different; in fact, it means that DGN can be everything I have ever hoped for it to be, and much, much more.  I thank you for your patience while I got my life back on track, and now with Jim working with me as well, I KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt that things will not only be as good as they were; they will be a quantum leap better.

You can expect a new DGN comic in no more than a week, and once we get things squared away, expect us to go back to twice weekly.

Again, thank you for your patience.  I promise you, the wait will be worth it.
